Higher education in the UK (England, Scotland and Wales) is the first choice for many young people worldwide. British Universities have a strong tradition and provide first class education. In the UK you may study any subject you like: Medicine, Pharmacy, Architecture, Engineering, Law, Computer Science, Business Administration and so on. There are many top-level Universities and lots of remarkable courses. English is the most important international language nowadays. Studying in english is a big advantage in today's world for work and other purposes. On top of that, degrees from UK Universities are considered a big plus all over the world.

Studying in UK is not only a well-organized procedure but also a very pleasant experience. Life is filled with cultural and social activities, sports and entertainment. Living in Britain is really unique. This experience may help you to enjoy a remarkable career in the future. In addition, the short duration of degree studies (only three years) makes education in Britain an excellent option.

The cost of life in the UK is reasonable; nobody can say that Britain is the most expensive country in Europe. In any case, expenses always depend on the level of comfort one requests. Undergraduate students of the European Union (EU) need to pay to English Universities an annual tuition fee of £9,000 (pounds sterling) or less. However, EU undergraduate students always have the choice of the student loan to cover their fees. That is a really cool tip, isn't it? Postgraduate students of the European Union need to pay to English Universities an annual tuition fee of £4,500 (pounds sterling) or more. Student fees may also vary, depending on the course, the University and the location. Most Universities in Wales have muct lower student fees than English Universities. In Scotland, the undergraduate studies are free and no student fees are charged.

The cost of student life in the UK is about 800-1,100 pounds (£) per month, depending always on one's lifestyle. This is simply an estimate for the amount needed for accommodation, food, transport and various personal expenses. London and a few cities in the south of England are more expensive. Northern England, Wales and Scotland are very good choices in terms of total costs, because life there is much cheaper.

Normally you need an English Certificate like IELTS or TOEFL in order to be accepted by a UK University. IELTS is usually the safest option for most candidate students. In the IELTS exam your score needs to be between 5.5 and 7 out of 9 to have increased chances of being accepted. If you have another English diploma (e.g. Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English or Michigan Proficieny), this can be used as an extra qualification. Unfortunately, you won't avoid the IELTS or TOEFL exams. So if you plan to study abroad (especially in Great Britain), it is better (and more economical) to prepare for the IELTS exams on time.

In case you are interested in medical studies, you should prepare yourself for the UKCAT Certificate. Finally, if you want to study business, you might need the GMAT Certificate.
